Diamond Community Center Temporary Housing
Diamond Community Center Temporary Housing, Katrina Recovery, Plaquemines Parrish, Louisiana
When hurricanes, tornados, floods or other natural disasters occur, Sealaska Constructors has the capacity to mobilize and respond immediately. In response to the hurricanes of 2005, our team prepared the site for 455 temporary housing facilities to provide shelter for thousands of displaced people.
The Diamond Community Center, with existing baseball and softball fields, a running track, and parking lot and wooded areas, needed to be prepped for the delivery and set-up of approximately 455 temporary housing facilities. Our scope of work included: mobilization/demobilization; site preparation; roadway surfacing; sewer system; water system; electrical system; fencing and miscellaneous site work.
The work was executed by Sealaska Constructors’ environmental group, Kingston Environmental Services, Inc. Total project cost: $21.2 million.
