March 11, 2010 – Sealaska Constructors has been certified as a participant in the US Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) Business Development Program. The 8(a) Program was created to help small disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market.
Today’s 8(a) Business Development Program is strengthened and improved to be a truly effective business development vehicle. New regulations permit 8(a) companies to form beneficial teaming partnerships and joint ventures and allow Federal agencies to streamline the contracting process. Additionally, the new Mentor-Protégé Program allows starting 8(a) companies to learn the ropes from experienced businesses.
Participants can receive sole-source contracts, up to a ceiling of $3 million for goods and services and $5 million for manufacturing. The overall program goal is to graduate firms that will go on to thrive in a competitive business environment.

October 12, 2009 – Sealaska Constructors received its IS0 14001:2004 Certification for its Environmental Management System. Sealaksa’s Environmental Management System Representative, Jim Coggins, manages this internal process to maintain compliance. “This system is key to managing the environmental risks and sustainability of our daily operations.”
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the source of the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 families of quality and environmental management standards and some 15 000 International Standards for business, government and society. ISO is a network of national standards institutes from 146 countries working in partnership with international organizations, governments, industry, business and consumer representatives.
